Quebec organisation to interest FSBO association ruling

Quebec’s provincial real estate organisation will interest a new Quebec Court preference that upholds a right of a for-sale-by-owner organisation DuProprio.com to put For Sale signs outward properties and to publicize in newspapers.

In her judgement, Judge Nicole Martin wrote that DuProprio does not brand itself as a real estate attorney and that a promotion does not make it seem that it performs a tasks of brokers.  Selling a home is not a disdainful domain of real estate brokers and a approach an owners decides to sell a home “belongs to him or her and several options are possible,” she wrote.

In a statement, Robert Nadeau, boss and CEO of a Organisme d’autoréglementation du courtage immobilier du Québec (OACIQ), voiced regard about a ruling, that he called contradictory. The justice is acquitting a association “that achieved actions that gave a sense it was certified to perform a functions of real estate brokers,” Nadeau said.

The OACIQ maintains DuProprio acts in a matter identical to that of real estate brokers and by doing so confuses a public, that can be left defenceless if troubles arise in a offered or shopping of a home.
